Weekend Strobist Workshop – 31 May

Posted on 02 June 2009 by Irwin_Wong

Learn off-camera lighting with the folks at Japanorama.  Hit the jump to see how easy it is

The only difficult things about off-camera location lighting can be distilled into what happened last Sunday: rainy weather, mosquitoes and getting kicked out of locations.

Other than that, it’s easy.  Check out the series of shots below to see what we were accomplishing with one light and inclement weather conditions. We manage to go up until about 2:30 before the heavens finally opened and sent up scampering to the nearest restaurant for…beer.

Next workshop coming up!  Keep an eye on the forum and the website for details.

Chris with 1 SB900 into a Lumiquest Softbox III to camera right. I just love how the light drops off so quickly with this light modifier! Shot by Justin.

Not all photos have to be strobed.  This great one was from Steve with available light

Another one by Justin – SB800 into a snoot to Sayaka’s right.  She’s picking up a fair amount of green from the reflection of the paint.
