Last Sunday’s workshop was a wet one. Click through for photos and more info!
The only things that are constant at a Japanorama strobist workshop are lighting and good photos. And rain, recently. Lots of it. Amidst some spectacularly bad weather last Sunday we gathered under a bridge at Futago Tamagawa Station to feed our flash addictions. Once again it was a lot of fun for all involved and we all managed to get some great shots as well as learn a lot about becoming completely proficient with flash.
For models we had Alfie’s highly photographic kids Joe and Ami, who were both very obliging, having been plied substantially with junk food throughout the day.
One of the shooters at the workshop was Rob, who was a beginner at off-camera flash. By the end of the day I think he was confident with the concepts of using shutter speed, aperture, flash distance and power to completely control the exposure he wanted. Here are a few of his shots:
Next is Charles, who has picked up the technical aspects in no time and is looking for creative ways to apply them:
Lastly there is Justin, who is learning amazingly fast – check out his shots and you won’t believe he’s only been to three workshops.
This last shot from Justin used three lights – and I think he did a pretty good job of making that dork in the photo look vaguely cool.
Think it’s too hard to learn how to shoot like this? Think again – flash is easy and fun to use. Check back to Japanorama or the forum for details of upcoming workshops or alternatively contact me for a private lesson. Also, keep an eye out for new studio workshops in the near future!
