A great time was had by all as we teamed-up with Akiko and headed down to the Sumida River for our weekly model shoot.
Great models, interesting locations, photographic talent on-tap to help you learn to shoot better with flash and ambient light. That’s what the Japanorama location workshops are all about and last weekend we had a full-house of students down on the Sumida River in Tokyo.
The Sumida River runs through Tokyo for miles and along its length there are some superb spots, some of them a little tucked away. Lots of hidden gems. Underneath the bridge that connects Echujima with Tsukishima, there is a little island and it’s on that island we did our shoot on Sunday. The location turned out to be superb for a class. I found it on a recent walk with my son, Joe. That’s him below, posing under the bridge. We didn’t get to use the underneath of the bridge on Sunday as the tide was in for most of the time we were there. But there were plenty of other locations on the little island.
Our model, Akiko, is as professional as they get. Check out her whole set on Flickr to see a complete range of what sort of work she has done. She is available for model bookings and if you want to get hold of her, by all means feel free to drop us a line and we’ll pass on your details.
Our own Hunter Skipworth also modelled. Thanks to the pair of them for doing a grand job.
A real mixed-bag of students
Sunday’s group was a real mixture; a couple of students who had come to our model shoots before, one student who’d had various lessons but never come along to one of the fashion shoots and then a group of new people. All in all, a superb bunch of varying skill-levels but all at the same enthusiasm level: high!
The shots
We’ll be uploading shots from the students over the next few days, as people get them processed and sent in. But here, for now, are a few that have come in already…. so keep checking back for more shots throughout this week. Oh, and even I made it in to the gallery this time. Thanks Yim! One of the nicest shots of me I have seen for a while.
