A whole load of great shots in our Japanorama group pool this week.
With over 160 members and more than 2000 photos, the Japanorama group on Flickr has really quickly grown into a superb showcase of photographs of Japan and photographers both resident and passing through.
Each week I’ll be posting a few of my faves. The difficult part is that it’s always so hard to choose just a few shots from the large amount of great work uploaded each week. So please don’t be offended if I don’t choose one of yours this time as this will be a regular feature.
Big thanks to a buddy of mine, Francesco Gallarotti of The Green Tea Gallery/Magazine and Gallarotti.net, for helping me configure a nice piece of PHP code for displaying these Flickr images. Last time I tried this, it was a nightmare when it should have been so simple. Thanks Francesco….
Five of my faves this week
This shot by Yuksey is a great use of the bridge pillar to shoot through. As someone said on her stream, the ‘U’ really makes me feel like it is relating to the guy in the shot who is looking at us; ‘Hey, you….’
Another that uses a frame, this time from Simon. Nice, crisp black and white tones and a lovely aspect down onto the people. Just a few of whom are coming towards the camera. I like that too.
Great expression captured by Charlie in this shot. Maybe a caption competition? Great light, moment, his reflection in it too…. superb night candid shot.
Ken‘s shot really captures these crossings. Wide-angles often need some extreme tilting to really work the angles in front of them. Reckon this might also look interesting cropped more to a square, with some of the foreground cut out. But it’s a great shot. Nice one Ken.
That’s it for now folks. Loads of amazing images going into the pool. Don’t be upset if I didn’t pick one of yours. I’ll be doing this often now I have Francesco’s code to make it easier.
And remember…..
If you are on Flickr, live in or have shot Japan… and don’t know about our Japanorama Flickr Group, drop in, join up and start posting. It’ll be great to see your shots.
