Kōmyō-ji Temple, Kamakura, in infra-red

Digging out a few files from the past month/six weeks and this one was shot whilst I was doing a photo-tour for a lady in town from Singapore.

We'd followed a favourite route of mine through some of the backstreets and off-the-beaten-track parts of Kamakura. Ending up in Kōmyō-ji is always a nice way to finish the day: a beautiful temple and the only major one in the town which is near the sea. So, last stop is usually the beach as it is just five mins walk away from here.

Gear etc?

Infra-red adapted Nikon D300
14mm f/2.8 lens
White-balance shot on a custom preset, balanced from a nice patch of green grass.

Photoshop?

New adjustment layers: channel mixer, curves, colour balance, to begin the process the 'false colour' into the shot.

Nik Color Efex Pro 3: polarization, photo-stylizer, darken-lighten centre.

Took me about 10 or 12 mins from start to finish.

  1. +Adam Maliq the original is in shades of brown and orange, that's how infra-red colour often comes out. The steps I mentioned in the description of this post tell you a little of how it's done. I'll be posting an article on here soon that goes into more depth. Thanks.
