Model photography workshops in Tokyo | Yonique in Yashio

We had a wonderful crowd for Sunday's workshop in Kita-senju and Yashio: shooters, models, hair and makeup… lovely day out, long day, lots of walking but it was all very much worth it.

Thanks to everyone who came out. Thanks to +Paul Church and his lovely fiancee, Atsuko, for having us in their home for the drinks and eats after the workshop.

Straight after Sunday's workshop I was in Osaka for a shoot. Got back yesterday and am getting myself sorted out before another shoot this afternoon. I'll be finishing off the magazine spreads of people's work and getting an article up about the whole day very soon.

This is Yonique, a lady who a few of my fellow Tokyo-based photographers have shot with over the two and a half years she's been here. She's off to the US at the end of this month. Shame for me as I really enjoyed working with her. But I wish her all the best for her new adventure. Great model.

The gear on these shots?

Nikon D700
Nikkor 80-200mm f/2.8 ED IF

  1. nice…. do workshop in Malaysia next time, i wanna join

  2. I generally don't like posed photography…it seems so inorganic.  These are really beautiful, posed but alluring and right on the edge of Urban organic… love these.

  3. Hope I can make the next.

  4. Be a pleasure to have you along +Jason Arney

  5. me too..

  6. Волчий взгляд

  7. wow nice

  8. Any word on when the next one will be happening?

  9. Got a busy couple or three weekends coming up,  +Jeremy Segal so it may not be until the third weekend of August. But that's probably when the next one is coming. September probably at least two. October [date to be confirmed] there is a big one in Kyushu. By big I mean it's a package: hotel, workshop etc etc. Eight places available. Between two and four models, hair and makeup, two days of shooting, one day of classroom [editing, postpro, critique, advice on printing etc]. Part of the deal will be that you get to make and take away A1 prints of stuff you've shot as we have a large printing machine in place.

  10. nice

  11. The workshop was a blast Alfie, and I'm looking forward to hearing more about the Kyushu workshop – hope I can make that as well!

  12. Glad you had a good time +Jeff Matsuya. Always great to see you. Details of the Kyushu item will be posted within the next week I'd say. Just putting the finishing touches to it all now.

You and +Tim Buerger helped me get shots I wouldn't have dreamed of without the help :)
Looking forward to the Kyushu info!

  15. Lovely model… like her face!

  16. I really enjoyed helping out… but man… I haven't even looked at my photos yet! I need to step on it!
