From Kimono to Bikini: Model Photography Workshop in Miyazaki, Kyushu, Oct

4th-7th, 2012

I posted this an event here on G+ but wasn't that impressed with how it all worked out, so I am posting it just as a post instead.

The last month has been super busy. My wife and our youngest son were
in the UK and apart from a busy patch of work that meant I had looking
after the kids and all the household chores to take care of.

Plus, Tokyo has been super hot… and that doesn't make for a
particularly pleasant outdoor experience. So apart from a bunch of
provate lessons and one-to-one workshops, there haven't been many/any
group events for a while.

September is almost upon us and there will be events going into the
diary again now.

But, here's news of one special weekend-long workshop I am organising
for October, in conjunction with William Ishiwata of Fotografixx in
Miyazaki, Kyushu.

Apologies for leaving you only ten days to decide and book to get the
decent price on the flight…. but, see line one of this email for the
reason.

Two days of shooting in beautiful old town and beach locations in and
around Miyazaki. One day of classroom activity [editing, post-processing, workflow, camera-to-print workflow, critique,printing].

Details of what is inclusive to the package:

1. hotel accommodation (check in Thursday October 4th through to check
out Sunday 7th)
2. breakfast at the hotel daily
3. lunch box on Friday, Saturday and Sunday
4. dinner Thursday – Saturday
5. shooting with 3 models on Friday. This is kimono shooting day. One of
our models, Shinyong, will wear something 1930s style for a 'showa
style' shoot in the old town. The kimonos, dressing, make-up and hair
will all be done and taken care of by us to make the models look
awesome for the shoot
6. shooting with 4 models on Saturday. This is the beach day
7. my classroom session on the Sunday.
8. 1 x A1 sized colour print for each student, made as part of the
Sunday class
9. transport to and from the airport by hotel bus (this is a special
shuttle so there will be only one each way.. meaning you have to be
there for it or else make your own way to the hotel]

Price: 90,000Yen

Places available: 8

Flights or trains to Kyushu are your own responsibility. Book 28 days
ahead [that's by September 6th] and the prices are good: approximately
15,000Y each way from Haneda to Kyushu].

A superb weekend of shooting and learning in prospect. In great
locations, with good people and a load of good food and hospitality on
top for good measure.
