Reflections of any kind are always fun to shoot, be it the world in a puddle or in this case the boy-meets-girl world that you can get when you have double-sided mirrors to play with….
This was shot as part of a documentary I made over three days of the Elisabeth Schwarzkopf 2010 Essential Collections show in Tokyo. Three top stylists, a bunch of hairstyles that were part of their upcoming 2011 collection, 30models, one day of auditions, two days of styling, one day of rehearsal and finally the runway show and live styling session. Great fun. I love being a fly on the wall… it's my favourite kind of work: just soaking up stuff that's happening all around me.
The double-sided mirrors in the salon were a wonderful toy for me and this is one of the best I got using them: female model sat on the left having her hair styled, male model sat on the right having the same done to him. Careful position of myself and the camera meant I could perfectly 'attach' the guy's legs to the lady's body.
