Joe posing under the bridge between Echujima and Tsukishima

Joe and I did a walk yesterday, from Monzen-nakacho station, through Eitai, Echujima and ending up in Tsukishima.

Eitai was where my wife’s family first settled in Tokyo, about 150 years ago. It was then known as Kumai-cho, which is where the family surname came from.

This bridge and little island, just at the Echujima end of the bridge that goes over to Tsukishima, was a great spot. Loads of little places to shoot pics and I think it would make a superb location for the next model shoot.

See where this picture was taken. [?]

Nikon D300
Tokina 11-16mm f/2.8
Very quick, hand-held HDR with five bracketed frames.

Any chance you could arrange one of these shoots on a Friday evening? Nice HDR.

My lazy Flickr instinct urged me to say that the boy was too central, but actually, no, he's not: it completely works here. The intricate, pencil-like textures that you've captured in the surroundings are really luscious. A very polished shot.

Great composition and color. Rather cinematic.

Kurtz: yep, we could do that. It's all about getting the models. A lot arent available on Fridays but we'll see what we can do. @Lump: it's all about the lines. Centre placing of people might well be against guidelines of composition, but that's all these 'rules' are; guidelines. You just gotta know how to break them. The overhead lines in the bridge girders converge to that circular piece of steel above Joe's head. The line of the stepping-stones leads away from him. The railings lead into him and then away.

That's the point of this pic, Charlie.... it was a reconaissance mission for a forthcoming model shoot, which is happening this Sunday. So, if you fancy seeing this with off-camera flash, why dont you come along? :-)
