Akiko the water-nymph, at the Rainbow Bridge, Tokyo

We had an amazing photo-shoot down by the Rainbow Bridge yesterday with a bunch of our photography students. Models Johna and Akiko did an amazing job; thanks guys.

Many more pics from the students and from Irwin to follow. I never take many at these sessions, cos I’m helping the others. But I just couldnt resist shooting a few here. Akiko later got a long dress on and actually got into the sea!

Brave girl. Totally dedicated model, ditto for Johan.

Nikon D300
Tokina 11-16mm f/2.8
Nikon SB900 on a stand at camera right, gridded.

There'll all be up on our japanorama.co.uk when the students have sent them in. Should have an article up about the shoot by this evening.

Both Akiko and Johan are amazing. Standing in the cold water and pose is not easy. But they did it. And YES, Akiko is a brave girl.

Great lighting. I love how the background is desaturated and it helps bring out the model.

posing, color and location are very good! did you and model go to near under the rainbow bridge on the ebb tide??

Alfie Goodrich wrote...
Thanks Eri. I scouted the location a few days before and imagined doing shots just like this. It was nice that it turned out so much like my original vision. We should do some shots together there sometime. Not sure what the tide was doing when we got there but it might have been ebbing, as by the time we were leaving the current and level was up. Are the tides that strong there? I dont know, The level of the water didnt seem to change that much over the course of a few hours.
